What does it mean to network using social media?

Networking using social media is a way to find people with similar interests or thoughts through different social media platforms. For example, a company can use a social media platform like Instagram to promote their products, find companies with similar products, and connect with others for things like collabs.

How are we motivated to participate in networked publics?

There are many motivations to participate in networked publics. Some of these include the fun of networking with new people, the learning that happens when connecting with people about new ideas or topics, and the financial gain that individuals and companies get from promoting businesses and products. There are many platforms for networked publics. Some of which include Facebook, Youtube, Instagram, and Linkedin. One of my group members mentioned GitHub being a good networking platform and said “it serves as a platform for sharing source codes”. Personally, when I have ran clubs in the past, I found facebook to be an excellent platform to use to connect to older generations, and Instagram an excellent platform to use to connect to younger generations.
